An excellent mind-reader

Today, in office a colleague showed me this mind reader.

Its quite simple :

1) you can choose any two digit number. Ex : 23
2) you have to add the digits : ex : 2 + 3 = 5
3) The sum of the two digits should be subtracted from the number you chose. Ex : 23-5 = 18
4) it will show you all the numbers from 1 to 99 with different symbols against each number.
5) The magic part : It will show the symbol of that number ex : 18

IT works!!!

My colleague told me its real magic. Being a Harry Potter fan, I wanted to believe but I was aware that Computer is a muggle thing and hence cant do any magic.

Whole day I was thinking about it. More I thought about it, more I was amazed at the work. It certainly wasnt magic. But it was soo convincing.

Being a sagittarian, I couldnt concentrate on anything else with this thing on my mind.

Only a few hours ago, when I showed it to my friend I found out how simple it was.

The theory it works on :

1) Any two digit number, when subtracted by the number which is the sum of the two digits, the resulting number will always be a multiple of 9!
example : Take 56. 5 + 6 = 11. 56 - 11 = 45 and that is a multiple of 9
Take 77. 7 + 7 = 14. 77 - 14 = 63 which again is a multiple of 9

2) just before the result screen, when it shows all the numbers, all the numbers which are multiples of 9 (9, 18, 27... ) have the same symbol.

3) And in the result screen, it shows that symbol. As no matter what number you choose, the result will be a multiple of 9.. And hence that symbol!
